On the 13^th June 2009 100 brave souls climbed the 465 stairs and 31 stories of Trellick Tower in order to abseil down its side with assistance from the British Army. Trellick Tower is an iconic 1970’s tower block designed by Ernő Goldfinger and the MyGeneration office is right at the base of it. The drop is 322 feet, or 98 metres, and it is the tallest residential building in Europe!  

The ‘Everest In A Day’ event was run in conjunction with one of our partners, BSES (The British Schools Exploring Society), who take young people on six-week trips abroad to complete scientific research and engage with the local population. In order to go on one of these once-in-a-lifetime trips the young people not only have to raise there own money, but must complete a rigorous set of training weekends and assessments. ‘Everest In A Day’ was an event to help these children raise money to go on such a trip. 

The event was a massive success and even attracted some celebrity participation from JLS (Runners up in X Factor) and Peter Reed (Olympic Rower and Gold Medal Winner). There was a great feeling of fun and community on the day and the feedback from the local community has been very positive.
