The funday is a big event that kicks off our summer programme. It is designed to gather everybody in our community together. We had many of our local charities and amenity groups in attendance, such as the Pepper Pot and Blenhiem CDP as well as staff and young people from the Golborne Youth Partnership. The vent is a good chance to let our community know what we will be up tofor the rest of the summer and to have a big party! We also use it as an opportunity to launch our big themes for the next year which are parenting and mental well-being.
This year our family fun day was bigger and better than ever! Once again we took over Horniman’s Park near our base for a fun-packed day that catered for all members of our local community. We had karaoke competitions, raffles, barbeques, and bouncy castles and this year over 800 people came across the day – our highest attendance ever. Having run this event for three years now, the preparation this year was much easier than it has been in previous years despite the fact that we aim to make each year’s event better than the last.
The children’s area of the park had a record number of bouncy castles, ball pools, craft tents and even a climbing wall which was busy all day. The local fire services also came down to our event with one of their fire engines to let the children have a look, something that was very popular with all the families. For the older children and teenagers we had karaoke and a talent competition. There was great festival atmosphere all day with parents relaxing and chatting with friends, children laughing and music playing. Several local caterers provided refreshments for the event which went down well.
Once again, our fun day was an entirely successful event that celebrated families and brought together all kinds of people from within our diverse community. The feedback from this event was really positive. We are already looking forward to next year’s event!
