Our Partnership with London Youth

Positive Change is an exciting, innovative, new initiative developed by London Youth in partnership with My Generation in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.  Positive Change is funded by the Department for Children and Families through the Youth Sector Development Fund.

Our aim is to prevent young people becoming first time entrants in the Criminal Justice System, and/or reduce young people’s involvement in offending anti-social and gang-related behaviours. Our work is in line with the National Home Office, Youth Justice and Third Sector Organisational targets for Prevention, Targeted and Integrated Youth Support Services.

Once engaged the programme will increase young people’s involvement in positive activities through diversionary interventions and targeted outreach. We will address and offer needs led interventions and services as identified through assessment frameworks to re-integrate young people into main stream services such as education, training and employment. We will provide progression routes and opportunities to empower young people to bring about effective and positive change.

The ‘Identity programme’ is a specialist targeted group work programme addressing group and gang – affiliated issues; Chance2change uses Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to promote interaction and build constructive relationships. It further equips young people with the tools and understanding to lead law abiding lives. It develops and empowers young people in positive decision making, self belief and acceptance of their social responsibility to create safer, stronger and cohesive communities.

The Keyfund approach to youth-action is uniquely effective at engaging young people who would not normally get involved in participation, and positive activities. Key fund runs on a membership basis with trained facilitators who will provide support to young people to access incremental grants of £250-£2000 to create their own activities and projects.
