19 Golborne Road North Kensington London W10 5NY T (0)20 8968 4499 F (0)20 8968 3969 [email protected]   OUR SUPPORTERS & FUNDERS       Staff Shaun Bailey Chief Executive Officer Shaun Bailey is a co-founder and the Chief Executive Officer of My Generation, set up in May 2006, He is the author of No-Man's Land, a 63 page pamphlet analysing the social crisis afflicting our inner-cities, which draws on case studies and personal experiences from Ladbroke Grove/West London. Published by the Centre for Policy Studies, excerpts were published in the Sunday Times, and Daily Mail and he has been a regular contributor to national press writing for papers such as the Sun, the Telegraph, the Mail and Standard. He has made numerous television appearances on terrestrial as well as satellite television programmes such as BBC news, Sky News, ITV news, News Night, The London Program (No Place like Home) He also been a copresenter for a BBC Radio 4 documentary called Street Solutions and made numerous radio appearances with Radio 5 Live, LBC and Radio 4. Shaun has also been a columnist for �Youth Work Now� as well as often appearing in articles in the Guardian and the programmes Moral Maize and The Today Programme. Shaun grew up in the North Kensington area. He attended Oxford Gardens Primary School and then moved on to Henry Compton Secondary School. Shaun graduated in Computer Aided Technology from South Bank University and worked as a security guard in Wembley and Leicester Square�s Trocadero, to put himself through university. Shaun became a dedicated gymnast with the Childs Hill Gymnastic Club which he attended for over twenty years. He won many competitions both nationally and internationally. He was also a member of the army cadet force for fourteen years. Shaun has been a youth worker for 18 years including 6 years in the drugs field at a variety of youth clubs. One of the key influences in his life was Barran Hulme, who served as his mentor when Shaun entered the youth work field he encouraged Shaun to push his youth work beyond entertainment and develop something that young people could benefit from in the long-term. Suzanne Miller Operations Manager Suzanne Miller was born in Copenhagen, Denmark and moved to the UK with her parents and three siblings when she was six. She lived and was educated in Weybridge, Surrey and on securing her first official job as an administrator, she moved to Ladbroke Grove in North Kensington, where Suzanne met and married her husband, a local Moroccan man. This union has lead to her having a great insight in to the large Moroccan and Muslim community living in North Kensington. Suzanne has three daughters, all of whom go to local schools. In the past ten years, Suzanne has run and edited a national colour glossy magazine geared towards people aged 16-25, a lucrative sportswear shop in Portobello Road and most importantly, she founded and ran Riverline Pictures, a registered charity which was set up to make films with youths aged 16-25, living in North Kensington who were pre-disposed to anti-social and criminal behaviour. This was a three year project and successfully made two films and one documentary involving subjects such as gun and knife crime and the effects of using crack cocaine. More recently Suzanne was the Chair of the Venture Community Association Management Committee, where she served for 15 months. This is a local centre based at the heart of the local community, who provide various clubs, activities and the famous Notting Hill Adventure Playground, which was built in the wake of the Notting Hill riots. This we believe is people centred sustainable change. These newly developed skills and attitudes are retained within the family and community then passed on to the children. We see this as the best way to raise aspiration and break the generational nature of under achievement.
